Leading liquefied natural gas terminal experts will be in Bahrain to attend a crucial summit from January 20 to 23 where they will discuss the upcoming import terminal projects in the Middle East region.

The Mena LNG Regasification Summit will be held under the patronage of Mr Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohamed Al Khalifa Bahrain Minister of Finance, Minister in charge of Oil and Gas and chairman of the National Oil and Gas Authority at the Gulf Hotel.

The event, being supported by Noga and Bapco will focus on developing the region's LNG industry and examining the impact of emerging players on the global LNG value chain.

According to experts, the Middle Eastern exports of LNG are set to decrease for the first time in 20 years due to the increasing demand for energy domestically. Countries including Bahrain, Kuwait, UAE, Jordan, Libya and Lebanon have all announced plans to build LNG import terminals to meet demand.

Over 2 main conference days and 2 additional workshop days, leading industry experts will discuss trading growth potential and commercial partnerships whilst also considering how to develop a world scale LNG infrastructure in the Middle East. The summit will highlight the region's drive to import LNG amid growing energy demands.

The key speakers include Captain Feisal A. Saad, Ras Laffan Port manager, Qatar Petroleum who will speak on how Qatar developed a world class LNG export infrastructure within the Ras Laffan port while Khaled Mubarak AlMushileh, the corporate planning manager, KNPC will present on Kuwait's strategic choice to develop its LNG import terminal to satisfy domestic demand.
